Installation of Aldelo EDC

Installation Sequence
IIS > .NET Framework3.5 > MS POS for .net 1.12 > SQL Express > Register IIS with ASP.NET > EDC

** Prior to EDC installation, please ensure that IIS is already installed. If the .NET Framework was installed prior to IIS, be sure to associate IIS with ASP.NET through the use of the Aldelo Prerequisite Installer.

Select the Setup Type (Typical or Custom) depending on the deployment plan -

Custom Setup
* Server : Installs Aldelo EDC Web Services Payment Engine (Requires IIS)
* Client : Installs Aldelo EDC Client Application and Support Files (IIS not required)

EDC Client component only needs .NET Framework 3.5, but does not need IIS. Also you may need to install MS POS .Net for local printing. (See Below)

Receipt Printing on EDC
If you need to print receipts directly from the Aldelo EDC client application, you must install Microsoft POS for .NET.

Since the Aldelo EDC Server component is an ASP.NET web service, you must make sure that TCP Port "80" - http (Port "443" if SSL is enabled; https) is open in the firewall on the server computer that hosts Aldelo EDC.

Under IIS 5.0 (XP sp3) the ASP.NET Web Services use a built-in account called 'ASPNET' by default.
Under IIS 6.0 (Windows Server 2003) and IIS 7.0 (Windows Vista, Server 2008), the ASP.NET Web Services use the 'Network Service' account by default. Also, to use IIS 7.0 you must install IIS 6 Management Compatibilty.

Aldelo EDC Folder Securities

The Aldelo EDC installation software automatically configures EDC Folder Securities for you. Knowledge of manual security configuration is desired if you must maintain the folder securities yourself. In general, both the Aldelo EDC Client and Server folders must be given Full Control security with the "Users" group. Additionally, if the system is running Windows Vista, add the "ASPNET" account with Full Control Security. If the OS is Windows 2008, add "Network Service" and give it Full Control security. If security permisions are not setup properly, you may receive errors such as "Web Service Unavailable" or "Server Page Not Found".

Go to: Start > Computer > Uninstall or Change Program > Turn Windows Features On or Off

Check in IIS Metabase and IIS 6

Check in IIS Script and Tools

Check in IIS Management Services.

Expand Application Development Features

Check in .NET Extensibility

Check in ASP.NET

Check in ISAPI Extensions

64 Bit Windows Only - IIS Pool Registration

Got an error message and can't go further while installing EDC onto Windows 7 Pro 64 bit ; "EDC Client can't communicate with Web Service" or the similar. The error comes up when I try to create a database using EDC wizard.

** Solution - execute IIS Pool Registration
