Technologies Keeping you updated with the latest technologies Point of Sale (POS) ![]() Had to reinstall OS (Windows XP SP3) and 'Aldelo for Restaurant' on Aldelo Client machine because of hard disk failure. Now we needed to integrate EDC.... If it's EDC server, IIS should be installed prior to .NET Framework installation. (Server : IIS > .NET Framework > SQL Express > EDC) In this case (not EDC server), I just needed to install .NET framework 3.5 without IIS, since .NET Framework is only prerequisite required to run EDC on this "client" machine. (You may need to install Microsoft POS .NET if you print receipt directly from EDC Client - in Standalone mode) After installing .NET Framework 3.5, we found AFR service NOT running on EDC. The EDC-AFR service can not even be started manually, and Error 1053 is showing when I tried manually start the service ; "Could not start the Aldelo EDC-AFR Service on local computer Solution : Changed IP address to be assigned by DHCP instead of Static ones. This seemed a strange solution at the first place since the method how assigning IP address seems like nothing to do with Windows Services. But it worked! As soon as I changed IP address from static to dynamic, the EDC-AFR service started working. Finally I made integration of EDC into Aldelo software successfully.

I tried to start Aldelo EDC-AFR service manually in Computer Services (picture1)
Error 1053 : could not start the service on local computer (picture2)
Troubleshooting ; Tried to Reconfigure EDC integration under Store Setting - Revenue
This is just a good try, but encountered "Can't Install AFR Service" - InstallAFR Service Failed (picture3)
WHAT on earth caused all these problems???? it's very simple reason.. -> it's just becasue of Static ip
assigned to the computer. A dynamic ip address must be assigned on computer.
Changed static ip 192.168.0.129 to dynamic -> Everything starts working!! now.
*** Hard to accept but;
So, the Static ip was preventing starting edc-afr service manually????
I had set up static ip time ago and haven't got any problem for a long time until today,
which made me hard to believe static ip was a culprit!!
Anyway changing it to static now fixed the issue....
EDC Server machine still has a static ip address. Can this cause any problem? i don't know.
