Datacap Twin Tran Cash Register Interface

The Datacap Twin Tran is an often miss understood piece of equipment. Many people think it is a credit card terminal which it is not! It is a Credit Card Interface for Cash Registers. In a nutshell it turns credit cards into credit card terminals.

After a Twin Tran, IP Tran or even a Dial Tran is installed the end user will never touch it or even needs to see it! The cash register dealer connects the Datacap equipment to the serial port of the register and at that point the cash register printer becomes the credit card draft and the 10 pad of the cash register is where the sale date is entered and the card is swiped on the cash register directly. Certain models of Datacap’s do include a built in MSR (Magnetic Card Reader) and would only be used in a single cash register system.

The Datacap equipment work with a large number of large merchant processors from Mercury, Sterling, First Data, Heatland and more. However an end-user must work with a certified cash register dealer in have a Datacap installed on their cash register. This was a wise move on Datacap’s part as it keeps the end-user from having problems integrating the device and learning how to use it. After being involved now for years and having installed hundreds of them you really want someone that knows what they are doing when interfacing you cash registers and credit card payments.

The Datacap products work with many Gift Card processors as well allowing the small merchant to establish their own private label gift card program. A small retail or restaurant would be remiss if they did not take advantage of a gift card program that is affordable. Mercury payment systems offers a free gift card program as part of their merchant services program.

The Datacap works with SAM4s Cash Registers and Sharp Cash Registers. May work on other registers like Casio and Datasym as well but I’m not sure.
